Province Liège (Luik)The province Liège counts some 'legend stones' that can't be determinate as megalith. Several of them are located near the sources of Spa. Probably these stones are shaped in the Celtic period. Eastern from Spa, at Sart-les-Spa, exist the pseudo dolmen of Solwaster. This is a big 'stone table' measuring 3m70 by 2m60, supported by four stone blocks. 'La Pierre aux loups' - ClavierLa Pierre aux loups or the 'Wolf stone' is standing on an high point, beside an antique road. This stone, shaped in a blue local chalkstone has a visible height measuring +- 1m35. Probably the stone reaches +- 65 cm dept. The stone is marked with the Stavelot Arm (cross).
Referring a local story the last wolf in the area has been shot here in 1813. This date is graved one the stone's backside. Probably the stone has been replaced when the house was built. 'Le menhir de Xhurdebise' - Malmedy
A remarkable standing stone, height +- 1m20, +- 90 cm large. This stone is supposed to heal toothache. The decoration is added in the middle ages. A few years ago the stone was stolen! By fortune it was found and fixed in concrete, what makes it a bit shorter. 'Back to top' - Province Luxemburg (= next page) |
