No megalith!'La Pierre qui tourne' - Sautin

In contrary the singular name there are two stones. (Sandstone)

'La Pierre qui tourne' - Sautin
'La Pierre qui tourne' - Sautin

The northeastern stone (left on picture) was broken in two pieces and later fixed with concrete. Height +- 2m50.
The southeastern stone, height +- 2m20, has a deep carve on half his height. Probably the stone is being used as whetstone.
A legend tells the stones are turning around on Christmas night.

Edgar Simons (*) reported that the stones originally lay flat on the ground and where called "les Pierres de Sart". They where erected in 1900. In 1937 both stones where classified by archaeologist as polishing stones.

(*) Edgar Simons is a Belgian researcher who wrote several articles about Belgian and Suisse megaliths, during the seventies he cooperated whit Willy Brou.

Plan Sautin

In France, about 10 kilometer west from Sautin, are standing "Les Pierres Martine" in Solre-le-Château,
and further west in Sars Poteries the beautifull "Pierre de Dessus-Bise".

Megalith???'La Pierre qui tourne' - Bailleux

An irregular shaped standing stone, height +- 2m70. Probably it isn't a real megalith.

In 1897 the flat laying stone became state property. They erected the stone and supported it by masonry.

'Menhir' Haulchin
'Menhir' Haulchin

This block shaped in sandstone is standing in front of the church of Haulchin. It can be a menhir (standing stone). The stone found in the neighbourhood, with height 2m60, originally was bigger.
Nearby a similar stone was found.

Megalith???'Menhir' Estinnes-au-Val

'Menhir' Estinnes-au-Val
'Menhir' Estinnes-au-Val

In 1981 two stones where found in a field called l'Enfer (The Hell).
They are now exposed near the cemetery of Estinnes. The second stone is smaller. There is doubt calling it real megaliths.
