Hüven - Lähden - Herßum

Nice tombs in a beautiful area.

Hüven

Near Hüven lie three "Großsteingrab": "An der Kölkesdose" (near the road Eisten-Lahn), "Hüven Nord and "Hüven Süd".
Hüven Nord  or "Volbers Hünensteine" is an imposing grave whit a 15-meter long chamber, 25 remaining side stones and 8 capstones. An oval ring of kerbstones surrounds the dolmen. The whole is 22-meters long and 10-meters wide.

Lähden

The "Großsteingrab" in Lahden is 25-meter long and 7-meter wide. The chamber counted 15 capstones, only 10 remains. Two small circles of kerbstones encircle the grave.

Lähden

Herßum

"Im großen Sand" is a nice "Hünegrab", situated on a very quit place deep in a forest southwest of Herßum (direction). This is the ideal place to overnight (on the sly) near a tomb.... It is possible to follow the forestall road to the grave by car.

Not one of the capstones remains in original position. Only 10 kerbstones of an oval ring remain. Many stones where used as building material.

Herßum - "Im großen Sand"

This monument is a typical example of an "Emsländischen kamer." (Emsland Chamber). De chamber is west-east orientated whit an entrance on the south side.
